Meet the Maker
Alba is the creative force behind Slou Ceramics.
Her hands are behind every piece made in her cozy ceramic studio in Bonn. Hailing from the picturesque region of Galicia in the Spanish Northwest, her journey is marked by a rich academic background and a global perspective, having lived in places as diverse as the US, the UK, Indonesia, or Germany.
With a PhD in English, a relentless drive for self-discovery, and a versatile career spanning various fields, craftsmanship flows in her veins. Her family heritage is a testament to this passion: her grandfather crafted bespoke shoes in Salvaterra de Miño, her grandmother imparted the art of tailoring in Guillarey, and one of her grandaunts spent her years restoring tapestries in the Vatican.
Alba's innate creativity led her early on on a quest to reclaim more time for exploration and creativity, as evidenced as well in her drawings and paintings (@sloumoments).
Her enchantment with ceramics began in Bali, where she encountered Gaya Ceramic and tried her hand at clay for the first time. Today, residing between Spain and Germany, Alba dedicates herself to meticulously crafting soulful, one-of-a-kind ceramic pieces designed to endure a lifetime.
